2022 WORKSHOP

-----

Working with speedlights and studio strobes can be a little intimidating. WELL... this one day workshop is going to walk you through the aspect of using a speedlights and studio strobes. You will gain knowledge and confidents to work with off-camera lighting. Combining lecture and demonstration, this is a class you will not want to miss.

What to Bring for IN-Studio workshop...
  1. Your Digital SLR or Mirrorless Camera. Nikon, canon and Sony are preferred. (please call for other brands of cameras)
  2. Lenses.   Try to cover a range from very wide (17-200mm), Prime lenses are great (50mm, 85mm, 105mm)
  3. Extra batteries.   Bring at least 1 or 2 extra fully charged batteries. There is no worse feeling than arriving with a dead battery.
  4. Formate memory cards.   Make sure you have a clean, fresh card. (dump out and format your cards)
  5. Clothing & shoes.   Bring comfortable clothing. You will be working.
  6. Lunch, or money for lunch. And snacks.   Snacks are allowed in the studio. Just as long as it's not noisy and not distracting. There are several places for lunch around the area in walking distance.
  7. Bring your thinking cap!   Show up ready, because you're going to learn! Some tips: make sure to read the workshop details before you arrive, so you know what to expect, and what to bring; bring a list of questions you want to ask the instructors; check the weather forecast so you're aware of possible weather changes; and most importantly, show up with a brain that is ready for learning, and we promise we'll fill it up with as much information as you desire!
  8. Notebooks.  Notebooks are highly recommended to document and look back if you ever need to. (Please no video recording)

ATTENDIES

TREY

I've attended more than my share of photography workshops, but never have I had more fun than when learning and shooting with Ray. Most instructors can teach you the technical aspects of shooting, but Ray does it in an easily relatable and understandable way. His practical approach to lighting and composing makes for an easier, more enjoyable shooting. Ray's are the only workshops where I not only left a better photographer, I left a better person too"

SHELLY

Ray has helped me turn my passion into a profitable business. Not only have my images improved in just a few months but I am no longer killing myself editing hundreds of digital images. Ray has empowered me to take charge of my business and transition to a more sustainable business model. He continues to push me beyond my comfort zone and thus I have experienced tremendous growth in all aspects of my photography.

ED

I have a very large collection of photography books that I have accumulated over the years and I have avidly read most of them. I have watched countless online videos and graduated from an online/correspondence school in New York. All of this on my quest to learn photography and become a better photographer. And while I succeeded in learning a lot of things, I never quite succeeded in putting it all together. That is until I met Ray and attended his classes. Ray is not only of the best photographer I have met, but also the best photographer teacher I’ve had. He taught me lighting techniques that were practical and easy to remember. Camera settings to get the best use of lighting and how to get the best shot. His easy and modest approach to sharing his knowledge makes him one the best teachers you will have. You will not regret working with him.

Julian

I had a one-hour workshop and learned so many aspects of photography that I would have never thought of. He went into detail on the subjects we discussed and supported me by pacing throughout our lesson to ensure I understood everything he was saying. He’s already a great photographer, and now I found out he is a great teacher as well! I look forward to the lessons that we will have in the future.
