11th ANGEL BAND

Music runs deep in the story of 11th Angel, a father-and-son duo whose songs carry the weight of love, loss, and legacy.

Ray grew up surrounded by music, not knowing that his own father — who passed away when he was just a baby — had also been a musician. Music became his way of connecting with a man he never knew, a bridge across generations built on melody and memory.

Years later, Ray met his wife, a woman whose spirit shined through every note she sang and every song she loved. Together, they dreamed of a life filled with music and family. But when she passed away, leaving behind their young son, the music that once filled their home fell silent.

As their son grew, he began to show the same spark his mother had — a natural love for rhythm and song. Picking up his guitar once more, Ray found healing and hope in playing beside his son. Together, they formed 11th Angel, honoring the woman who inspired them both and the generations of music that came before her.

Their songs tell the story of love that endures, of finding light in loss, and of how music — like family — never truly fades away.

OUR ANGEL

Laura also grew up around music. She was in choir back in high school, played a little piano and some guitar. When Samuel was born, Laura would always sing to him. This made him smile and dance with laughter. Her presence was amazing to be around.

Laura was diagnosed with BRCA1 and triple negative cancer. This form of cancer is very aggressive and she fought for four years before passing away on June 11, 2011.

Laura loved angels and the number 11. So in honor of my late wife and Samuel’s mom. We have come up with 11th Angel.

GROWING UP WITH MUSIC

Growing up around music from Mama y Papa. We didn’t know Samúel would grow up to be an amazing musician. Within a year of picking up an instrument, Samúel surpassed his dad. Samúel's dream is to become a touring and recording musician.

Ray's Challenges

The loss of my hearing was noticed when I was in elementary school. Some doctors believe it could have been from meningitis. I received my first hearing aid when I was in middle school. It has been a challenge trying to hear on stage due to the loud music, but I make it work.
